Tanks range in size from 3,250 to 50,000 gallons.View Slideshow
Engineered locally by Westec Tanks, each of our tanks is configured to optimize the micro-oxygenation process and adjust the effects of oak exposure by simply adding or removing oak staves at your discretion. All tanks share the same height for temperature and micro-oxygenation uniformity and each tank is outfitted with its own controls for maximum flexibility.
Tank sizes are in multiples of a standard 6,450 gallon shipping tanker truck. Small break down gallonage can be kept in stainless drums or porta-tanks of varying capacity.
Safe Harbor specializes in blending operations for our clients. At Safe Harbor, all tanks are connected by three inch stainless steel hard lines that can move wine to larger tanks for blending then return to smaller tanks for aging, micro-oxygenation or with different oak amounts for greater flexibility.
Some clients maintain their original blends for the entire duration at Safe Harbor. Other clients blend and bottle as market demands, creating multiple sub-blends of their core blends. Either way, Safe Harbor provides excellent service and support. Whatever your needs may be, there is a good chance that we have done it before.
Safe Harbor has over 3.5 million gallons of storage capacity and a staff winemaker available for tasting and instruction on the process for those new to this innovative technology.
Safe Harbor has its own Rice-Lake 70 foot scale and three certified Weighmasters.
Safe Harbor measures the specific gravity of each wine in order to provide accurate gallonage.
Safe Harbor maintains all required inventories and compliance issues for our clients. Monthly inventories and individual tank analysis are provided monthly.
Clients are welcome to come and taste their wines in progress at any time. If samples are required, we can have them ready for you when you arrive. Client tastings are common at Safe Harbor.
